cxoffice (crossover linux) and slackware 13.37

My only problem with Slackware 64 13.37 is that Crossover Linux doesn't seem to install correctly. It claims successful installation, but several lines of these errors occur:

Code:
Use of "goto" to jump into a construct is deprecated at /home/x/cxoffice/lib/perl/XML/SAX/PurePerl/Reader/Stream.pm line 56.

/home/x/.local/share/mime/packages/cxassoc-cxgames-0.xml:6: namespace error : Failed to parse QName 'xml:'
    <comment xml::lang="cs">Archiv láhví CrossOver
Perhaps the problem is 32-bit libraries on a 64-bit system, or Perl. I did install MultiLib.

Then, when I try to restore certain cxoffice "bottles," I get the following messages:

Code:
Unhandled exception
or

Code:
wine: Unimplemented function user32.dll.DialogBoxParamW called at address 0x7b8402f9 (thread 00f2), starting debugger...
Everything worked fine in Slackware64 13.1.

Anyone else getting these errors?

To deal with your errors in order:
1. A perl error, maybe because your version of perl is too new. Maybe also you, like me, ended up with bits of perl-5.10.1 (Try ls -l /usr/lib/site/perl5/ ). It's also possible a full version of 32 bit perl would fix it.

2. A typical wine error with no context. Can't say much. Wine starting is a bit like getting a typical family out the door. They are in the house, half dressed & arguing, fighting, bitching and complaining to parents whose fault their bad behaviour really is(!), until the deadline for leaving. Slightly after the deadline, they all walk out polite & sociable looking like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths :-)).

3. That's a wine bug and should be filed as such as they want to fix that sort of thing. You might get around it by

perl versions

Your description of wine components is HILARIOUS!!

perl --version returns:

Code:
This is perl 5, version 12, subversion 3 (v5.12.3) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi
Also, my perl is at /usr/bin/perl. I didn't find any place called /usr/lib/site/perl5 or /usr/lib64/site/perl5.

ls -l /usr/lib64/perl5 gives me:

Code:
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 56 root root 4096 Jan 26 12:24 5.12.3
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root 4096 May  6 15:21 site_perl
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root 4096 May 12 14:43 vendor_perl
Perhaps I should install a full 32-bit version of perl? Could this possibly interfere with the AlienBob multilib?

Thank you for your help.

Correct me if I am ill informed but isn't Crossover stuff ancient? The version of wine in SlackBuilds does any and all windoze stuff I need. What windoze applications do you require? Perhaps it is best to start from there.

Crossover deprecated?

I had been using Crossover for several programs, such as Rosetta Stone language software (v3.4.5). I used Rosetta Stone because of its "bottle" feature. Bottles are self-contained and can be backed up and restored (so I thought). I will investigate using Wine alone. Thanks for the heads up.

This is the only thing that is holding me up from the 13.1 upgrade to 13.37 Slackware64 Linux.

You can use multiple WINEPREFIXes, Crossover just makes it easier. You just have to remember to specify the WINEPREFIX when running a program. eg
WINEPREFIX=~/winestuff/foo/ wine ~/winestuff/foo/path/to/your/program.exe
