i am able to ping only to my dns servers
mail.yahoo.com dosent work

I have the same problem on Debian. I have searched this site for a month and
all the posts like this one always end up unresolved. There has to be an answer. I had no problem with RH9 or SuSe 9.0 pro but no luck with Debian.
I believe the problem has something to do with your NIC / network setup
but I haven't had the time to do anymore with it. Good luck!
