Compaq R3000 PCMCIA

Hey Guys,

I just got a new laptop, a Compaq Presario R3000, & the PCMCIA does not work. After searching google for 3 days or so I had found several places where it was suggested that adding port & memory values to /etc/pcmcia/config.opts could make the cardbus functional. Unfortunately the values from various websites do not seem to work for me, probably because this particular laptop ships with a variety of different processors.

Revelant portions of lspci -vv
Code:
02:04.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments: Unknown device ac54 (rev 01)

Does anyone know how to calculate the needed values for port & memory to include?
The processor is an Athlon XP M 2800+, which is 32 bit

What kernel version are you using?

here on my 2.6 kernel, i have options for PCMCIA, which are disabled at the moment.. I'm not sure if they are by default or not, but check and make sure you have it enabled first.

I'm using the standard 2.4.29 slackware kernel. I've been "windows free" for over 2 years. Pcmcia is enabled, using some of the settings from various websites I have been able to get cardctl to identify the card, but I can't get it to work. This problem is specific to this particular series of laptops, if you don't have an r3000 or the HP equivalent you will not have witnessed the issue that I am having. There are driver issues with the TI cardbus/pcmcia controller.

On a better note I have gotten a netgear MA111 usb dongle to work.

Thats interesting. I'm running a 3240US Compaq presario. I think our machines are similar. I have no trouble with PCMICIA. Running on 2.6.11.5

I found a mailing list about this series of laptops, and several people from the list are helping me with the problem. Here's a link in case it could help someone else.
