USB on compaq presario r3000

Hi ,
I'm new to linux and for a about 3 weeks Ive been trying to get my usb
mouse working on my laptop, the thing is it don't work in the suse setup
and it seem that it disables it at boot, the light turns off when it says starting devices and don't come back on even if i plug out then back in.
Ive tried with two mouses same thing. it once pick it up and worked but i restarted and it wont come back on.....

please help me.

i noticed u had an r3000 laptop. i have that 2 (r3360us) to be specific. but i had the same problem to untill i got a kensington wireless optical 3 button mouse. i plugged it in when it was on and it worked right away. im not sure what suse u have but i have 9.2 wich i downloaded from suses website. and if ur like i am i dont know how to configure anything wich is why this was perfect, plug and play.

I have found a way to get the usb mouse working.but listen to is for a solution i have to boot for windows make it go into standby wake it back up restart the computer then boot to linux ?? it have to be done ever time u restart!..................weird
