Claws mail won't start up anymore...
Yesterday I installed from slackbuilds.org Zoneminder (and all of its dependencies from each link) and Motion.
Then later I noticed Seamonkey has a new version out, so I got the slackbuild stuff from 'current' (I'm running 14.1_64) to use the latest 'seamonkey.SlackBuild' as the one for 14.1_64 didn't work (I cannot remember the error).
After waiting a couple of hours, I went to bed as it was late and knew it would be finished by morning.
Unfortunately two things happened between the time I installed Motion, Zoneminder and tried to build Seamonkey 2.33 - the seamonkey build ended with an error (not important, I just wanted to try it for fun), but most importantly my claws mail won't start up.
I tried it in konsole and there is no error, no message, no anything. It just goes back to the prompt instantly but claws mail doesn't start.
I even built the latest claws mail from slackbuilds.org and 'upgraded' over the older claws mail and it still doesn't start up.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate to hear them as my e-mail is rather important (as anyone would say).
Also, I just remembered, after trying to build seamonkey the first time, I remember a part of the error was that it needed 'pulseaudio' for some reason, so I also installed 'pulseaudio'.

That's just it, everything is there. Everything. When I use
Code:
/usr/bin/claws-mail
in a konsole and hit 'enter', it does what it's supposed to do except that it just never shows up on the screen. No error messages or anything. It built and installed (upgraded) just fine. Ksysguard doesn't show it as running, so it's not a ghost app. I'm kind of getting a bit nervous as I cannot check e-mail for a full day now.

When I setup Seamonkeys built in email. I use the same email address as Claws .
Maybe you can do that till you figure out the claws problem.
Then you won't be nervous.
Also. When I install Seamonkey. I download it from the seamonkey home site.
Then extract the tar.bz2 to get the seamonkey folder.
You can run/cut&paste to- from /home/username or /opt.
I choose /opt.
The launcher in either case is
/home/useername/seamonkey/seamonkey
or
/opt/seamonkey/seamonkey
If from /home you can update seamonkey launched as user through the toolbar in the browser.
In /opt you can update the seamonkey launched as sudo in terminal
as
Code:
sudo /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey
Any hows. That is how I handle static installs of Firefox or Seamonkey.

@rokytnji - That's the way I used to install my Seamonkey, and then I didn't have to think about so-libs and depending on someone else to build it (not complaining about someone else taking the time to build it, it's just that it was 'easier' for me, that's all).
@dederon - I know you mean well, but I can't remember my own phone number, much less all that went into starting strace according to its man page. So, I did...
Code:
strace /usr/bin/claws-mail
...and got a slew of stuff that might as well have been ancient heiroglyphics. There was far too much to paste here, most of it seemed like repeating stuff, but I can't be sure. Here is a paste of a few things that sort of caught my eye and maybe will make sense to someone else...
I saw things saying 'no such file or directory', yet later looking as if it found them. As I said, it makes no sense to me and maybe someone else will understand it. Those are mostly just random pastes I took with things I sort of recognized or understood.
