Mandrake 9.0 won´t start anymore!

Well,

I tried to install Blackbox in a Mandrake 9.0 box with KDE. Everything was fine until I rebooted. When I try to start the OS, it stalls in the section:

Building Window Manager Sessions. It says that´s OK, but the computer freezes here.

I´ve tried starting in failsafe mode, but it halts in the same place.

Any ideas? I don´t want to reinstall...

Are you booting directly to runlevel 5 (GUI) ?? If so, can you boot into or have you tried to boot into any other runlevel like 3 (multiuser w/networking) for instance ??

Seems to me something got corrupt during your install but first try to get into your machine to fix ?

Hi there,

No, I´m booting to console mode, but when I try to start the distro, it freezes in the section mentioned. Doesn´t reach the boot prompt.

Is there a way to remove packages using the installation cds in Mandrake? I´ve tried with the update and Update only options, but it won´t allow to uninstall packages, only to add them.
