Change the Penguins During Boot

During boot up, I've got the penguins displaying at the top, which is neat, but I want to change it to a Slackware logo. Probably something from the propaganda page. I noticed that the image for the LILO boot screen is a .bmp, so I did a system wide search for .bmp files to see where the penguin images are stored, but I could not come up with anything. Anyone know how to do this?

That image is part of the kernel itself, not something provided by any Slackware-specific files.

I am sure it can be changed by editing the file the kernel uses to build it, but you would need to recompile the kernel to do it.

The boot logos are in:

/usr/src/linux/drivers/video/logo/

and you're probably interested in: logo_linux_clut224.ppm

There's a procedure for converting a custom image to this format and then you recompile the kernel with the new image, but I never followed up on how to do it. A google search for 'change linux boot logo' or similar ought to get you what you need.
