Can't use terminal in KDE

Using Slackware 12
Using KDE window manager

I was using the terminal, then it stopped. I can open the terminal, but I can't type anything into it.

Is there a bug in this distro?

Thanks for help.

What terminal are you trying to use? Is it Konsole or the Terminal emulator?

Make sure pseudo-terminal device /dev/pts (used by X window terminal emulators) is mounted.
You should have some similar record in /etc/fstab:

devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0

I tried both the terminal emulator and console.

/tmp is on hda1 and it's only 60% full.

/etc/fstab:
Quote:
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
I have devpts listed in /proc/mounts:
Quote:
devpts /dev/pts devpts rw 0 0
I can't use firefox in KDE as well: couldn't type in an address

I can use the terminals and firefox in xfce alright; except I couldn't paste any text in when using vim: I set vim to insert(paste) and when I tried to paste, it went to insert(visual) and wouldn't paste anything.

I have line print when I start my computer:
Quote:
Triggering udev events: /sbin/undevtrigger --retry-failed
Would this have anything to do with the problem?

No, that line is normal. Keyboard problem perhaps?
