Unhappy Can't run Wine: "wine: could not exec wineserver" Slackware 13.1

Whether I double-click a windows installer, try to run the Wine configuration from the K menu, or try to run "winecfg" from the command line, I always get this error:
Quote:
wine: could not exec wineserver
I checked this thread, but it didn't help:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...g-wine-292313/
It seems the "wineserver" itself is missing.

I downloaded and installed the Slackware package from the WineHQ page on SourceForge, which according to them is more up-to-date than some distro repositories:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/wine...re%20Packages/

This is the command I used to install the Wine package:
Code:
installpkg /Programs/WINE/wine-1.2.rc5-x86_64-1sg.txz
There were no errors during install.

You can see if wineserver is actually missing by the command 'which wineserver'

You are right, it is there...don't know how I missed it. Permissions include executable. Perhaps there's a problem with the Slackware package...although that's unusual....maybe I should try to build from scratch?

Slackware package has this problem, build from source entirely different problems. I'm posting re the source in a new thread because it is really related to another thread someone posted, and I'm abandoning this one.

You installed the wine package for x86_64. You missed the fact that wine is meant to run 32-bit Windows programs. It does not work on 64-bit Slackware, unless you add multilib capability (i.e. the capability to run 32-bit programs as well as 64-bit programs).

See http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...kware:multilib

Ahh, I see. That's OK, I used your Slackbuild instead so now I have the codecs I need, as well as the Slackbuild for wine_gecko.
