blackout when booting with newly compiled 2.6


After much reading on the options inf xconfig I finally compiled and installed the new 2.6 kernel. Problem is whenever I try to boot it, screen shows nothing. Did I miss something?

Check your virtual framebuffer option in the kernel config. make sure it is enabled,
