BitchX identd shows number instead of my username?? How come?

Well ...when run BitchX I always get

1001@hostname.com
...
How can I change this 1001 to my username?

Hi there.

You don't say anything about what kind of identd service you're using. I advice you to use the oidentd service as I've only had good experience with it

just write:
Code:
oidentd -g nobody -u nobody
as root and it should start. The -g and -u option is for security reasons.

Yes ....Now works great ...Thanks man ...I owe u ?
And another simple question ...

Or that's not possible?

No problem.

I haven't done this myself, but try to put this into /etc/oidentd.conf:
change everything in the <>'s
Code:
user <your username here> {
    to <irc.yourircserverhere.com> {
        reply "<spoofed username here>"
    }
}
an example:
The user roby want to spoof his username to shadow:
Code:
user roby {
    to irc.efnet.net {
        reply "shadow"
    }
}

in /etc/oidentd.conf:
replace <>'s with what suits you.

Code:
user <user> {
    default {
        allow spoof
    }
}
in ~/.oidentd.conf:
replace <>'s with what suits you.

Code:
to <irc.example.net> {
        reply "<example>"
}
or to make it reply with the spoof for everybody that looks up the identd:
replace <>'s with what suits you.
Code:
global {
        reply "<example>"
}
