Looks like that particular server is down at the moment.

What errors do you get when trying to run firefox?

You could try to download mozilla package manually and then use installpkg to install it.

There is no error. It just doesn't work!
Message says:
Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com. (an example)

I did try with firefox (from firefox.com), netscape, seamonkey. I guess they have the same engine, then... they didn't work.

Ah, sorry I didn't see this before I posted last post. It sounds more like a dns/network issue. Probably why slackpkg isn't finding server.

Not very up on those issues but hopefully someone can help you.

I would probably try '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart' and maybe have a look at ifconfig.

I noticed any Mozilla engine doesn't work, but a different one does, I mean... konqueror, opera, lynx and so on.

Strange. The only thing that they have in common regarding networking is I think in the ~/.mozilla folder. You could try deleting/renaming it and see if that helps.

Apart from that try a new mirror with slackpkg and reinstall maybe.

For the records:

after Dropline deinstallation...

slackpkg doesn't work anymore, neither does pidgin. Deinstallation modifies basic slackware installation, firefox doesn't browse the web, HAL/messagebus doesn't work (/etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus is gone, where did it go to?), and so on.

So, what do you guys say?

Do you have any of those:
http://wiki.droplinegnome.org/index....kages_for_2.20 or were they removed altogether?

You know, this is documented on the website.

In /etc/nsswitch.conf, change
Code:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4
back to
Code:
hosts: files dns
This wouldn't be necessary if Patrick had anything like post-removal script support in the packager.

That's it! firefox is running fine, thanks. So, what can I do to get HAL service (desktop automounting) back?
How to get /etc/rc.d/rc.messagebus back?

Thanks in advance

rc.messagebus is part of the dbus package: http://packages.slackware.it/package...s-1.0.2-i486-3
HAL: http://packages.slackware.it/package...-0.5.10-i486-1

The site posted above also mentions dbus-glib being changed so you might need to reinstall that.
