Note: the below steps are no longer necessary / recommended if you are using Xfce 4.14 on -current.
I just wanted to share my experience with the Adwaita theme in -current. I am using Xfce and the version of Adwaita included in -current does not draw borders around menus anymore. On the screenshot below you can see how it's displayed on -current (left) and on 14.2 (right).
This is especially confusing when you open a menu on a white application background.
For me the way to resolve this was to restore the old Adwaita theme from 14.2, by copying the content of /usr/share/themes/Adwaita to ~/.themes/Adwaita on my -current machine.
Afterwards I had to first select a different theme in the Xfce theme chooser dialog and then switch back to Adwaita. Maybe re-login would also help.
If anybody else faces the situation, I hope this helps.
Note: An alternate approach is to enable Shadows under Pop-Up windows in the Xfce compositor settings. The disadvantage of that is that the shadow is rendered with round-corners, but the theme in -current actually still uses squared corners (where the latest version of Adwaita uses rounded corners everywhere).

Reason: no longer necessary in -current
I would personally love to use the Adwaita [dark] theme in -current but the theme cuts off the top and bottom of my custom Slackware logo in the Whisker menu.
This is not a problem with the xfce-dusk theme. I don't know why this happens, and using the normal Adwaita theme does the same thing.
Attached are some examples, with xfce-dusk on the left and Adwaita dark on the right.

@Lysander I have digged a bit deeper: the issue with the icon size is related to Adwaita/GTK and the Xfce4-panel version. Can you please try to use the old Adwaita theme (extracted from 14.2) which I have provided in my initial post and see if the issue is gone?
Latest Xfce4-panel is compatible with the current Adwaita/GTK Version. There have been some version which contained a fix, but this has been removed in one of the latest releases. This does not mean that even with the latest Xfce4-panel version there is any guaranty to work with the old Adwaita/GTK included in current.
The issue has been solved with the Xfce 4.14 release. It works fine with the Adwaita theme in -current. Borders are drawn correctly now and even drop shadow is rendered as expected. The icon cropping issue is gone.

I'm using Robby's 4.14 and it's great. I'm using the Adwaita dark theme and it looks fantastic. It's so rare to find a dark theme on Xfce that works properly.
