Adding Restart and Shutdown to KDE Log Off menu

Running 13.37. If I am in xfce, I have the option to shutdown or restart in addition to log off. In KDE I don't. Any suggestions on how to get them to show up. Thanks in advance.

you are using startx, right?

make sure your .xinirc file contains something like this:
Code:
exec ck-launch-session startkde

I guess I should have added that. Yes, I use startx.

ck-launch-session startkde
else
startkde

This is in my .xinitrc

The Restart and Shutdown options will appear in the KDE menu if you boot directly into run level 4.

Thanks. I was hoping for another way where I could continue to boot into runlevel 3.

You can boot into run level 3, then as root, 'telinit 4' which will switch to run level 4 and give you the options. At logoff and shutdown, you will be prompted to also kill the root shell.
