ACPI causes reboot

Ok, now that I've got Slackware installed finally I'm tweaking.

I have to disable ACPI in my lilo.conf file in order just to get Slack to boot.

It gets past the initial Lilo screen and begins uncompressing the kernel and then just reboots if ACPI is on.

Problem is now I can't shutdown the computer without waiting and hitting the power button and it won't reboot it just hangs.

Not huge but irritating to say the least.

I've searched for most of today off and on to see if I can find anything on fixing this to no avail. Is it not "fixable"?

If you roll your own kernels then you might try upgrading to the lastest version of your favorite flavour. Additionally, you could select to have APM enabled and ACPI disabled when you roll your kernel.

If you are using a standard installation of Slack, then I don't have anything to suggest. Others might.

Standard Slack install right now.

Occasionally I'll compile my own kernel but up until now the bareacpi kernel did what I needed.

Doesn't function quite right with the new computer.
