reboot when "reboot" command not responding?

Hi all

I'm having a lot of problems with my remote virtual debian server. Is there any way I can reboot the box when the "# reboot" command doesn't work? I'm getting a "Too many open files in system" error, and can't alter any of the server's memory allowance because its a remote box.

Any ideas?

you could try using the shutdown -r now command, or init 7
