a problem with my sound card in slackware 12

Hello all

I installed slackware 12 . But there is one last problem ,it's with my sound card .I couldn't play any music or hear any sound. My device is IBM R50e and I need the driver for the sound card.

Have you tried running alsaconf as root and then alsamixer? Have you added your non-root user to audio group ("gpasswd -a username audio" as root)?

alsaconf

as root, then run

alsamixer

as the user to use the sound device and applications, make sure to unmute things and set them the way you want. Then run

Code:

alsactl store

as root to save the settings. Well thats how I have always done it, mileage may vary.

I have never had a problem with the kernel detecting my integrated Intel audio devices before, but I am not going to make the claim that it should detect it on the auto though.
