Very sorry, I made the mistake, the package I need is NetworkManager-pptp, and this works now.

Only to ask, why do you prefer Openoffice to Libreoffice? Does it have any particular reason?

Pretty much for the same reason I prefer Xfce over KDE. Reasonable development pace, and the developers seem more interested in fixing annoying bugs first before introducing any new features. I've had some problems with earlier versions of LibreOffice, where users complained about various bugs.

That being said, I do my best to keep an open mind. So from time to time, I give LibreOffice a spin. But Open Office 4.0.1 is excellent, so for the moment, there's no compelling reason to use something else.

Thanks for the reply. How could I install the Hungarian language pack for Openoffice? Maybe you have a Slackbuild script for it?

On another note another nice desktop for MLED is fluxbox with cairo-dock. Takes a little more setting up to get it set up the way that you want, but it's running pretty nice so far.

Thumbs up

Hi, I have just installed MLED 14.1 (32-bit, XFCE, almost full install: the only package I've skipped is the Broadcom STA driver) and am extremely pleased by the result. The installation process went very smoothly, thanks to having printed the detailed instructions beforehand

So far the only, rather small-ish, issue I encounter is that by default PDF-files are opened with GIMP. Is there a possible fix for that?

Keep up the good work, niki!

Exclamation

Another bug I noticed is that running Thunar Bulk Rename from the Applications Menu brings up an error message saying that:

Code:
Failed to execute command "/usr/lib64/Thunar/ThunarBulkRename %F".
Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib64/Thunar/ThunarBulkRename" (No such file or directory)
Note that I'm running a freshly installed 32-bit MLED, so the reference to /usr/lib64...stuff is rather inappropriate

Furthermore, *.tar.xz files aren't associated with Archive Manager.

A last note for today: HTML-files are associated by default with the "Integrated Development Environment" (i.e. Geany) and so is the "Lauch Dropbox Website" menu-entry in Dropbox. As the latter does not make much sense, I can understand the former as being more developer-oriented. However, I prefer to open HTML-files in the browser while having the option to edit it in a dedicated editor if needed.

I hope my feedback is useful, and in place within that thread.

OK thanks for the detailed bug reports. I'll look into it as soon as I find a moment.

Since your version of MLED is using XFCE just do:
On any pdf file:
Code:
right click
scroll down to 'properties'
select 'open with'
and select the program you want as a default to open pdf files.
This will change the default and all pdf files will open with what you select.

But of course it would be nice if file associations just worked out of the box. I'll correct that.

BTW, is there a method for installing MLED without a working internet connection, i.e. offline? I consider migrating a laptop that has a peculiar BCM wireless device needing the STA driver to work properly, but this driver can be pulled from the microlinux repo during or after the installation process. Seems like a catch 22 in this situation... Apart from plugging-in the cable or somehow modifying the installation USB-stick by including all the needed MLED packages and tagfiles, I can't imagine doing the install over WiFi. Or can I?
