If you are running RHEL in a VM, RHEL will have a virtual ip address that is different (and probably on a different sub net) than the machines ip. This may be causing issues with the way your ftp server is configured. ethtool ethX will spit out what RHEL thinks its ip is(X for whatever nic it is).
no ftp server.
Its a fresh install.
i have specified the IP address using neat-tui.i can even ping it from other RHEL machine (unother VMWare) i was getting ftp connection refused error and now its damaged repomd.xml file error.
Well, if you are trying to connect to your system via ftp, you will need to run an ftp server. If you want to have yum connect, you will need anonymous ftp.
