Hi,
You might want to call me some sort of a newbie to Linux and Ubuntu, but I have a problem and I really prefer to be helped.
I have a webserver running on Ubuntu Server 6.06.1 and I have LAMP installed.
Now, when I want to access it from a Windows XP pc using Putty, I get the following error:
Quote:
PuTTY Fatal Error
Network error: Connection refused
|
No matter which address I use to access it, local or public, I still get the error.
Pinging to the server using local or public address works perfectly, and I can successfully access my server using IE.
I have set up my Modem (Thompson Speedtouch 546) to forward port 22 to that machine, and I think that is set up perfectly.
I have checked my /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny and iptables, but don't know what to do with them.
I hope someone can help me, if you need more information, don't bother to ask me.
Hopefully this looks clear to you, I am looking forward to your replies.
Cheers,
Gerard Nijboer
