Windows XP opening Samba file as "READ ONLY"?

I have recently setup and deployed a Samba server from the Red Hat 8 installation cd's, all is running well aside from a small problem. I cannot get the Windows XP workstations to open files from the server in anything other the "Read only" mode?? My Windows 98 and 2000 boxes work fine... Any suggestions?
