Hi, I just did a clean install of Mandrake 10 on an old 500 MHz Celeron. The install went smooth but it runs through the boot process and stops at "Starting System Logger". Above that are a lot of errors dealing with "Cannot touch, read only file system". I assume that I need to make the file system writable but I have no idea how.
When you put in the CD, it should say "press Enter to install" or something, with instructions for rescue mode booting. It boots off the CD from there. That isn't working?
In that case, I wouldn't know...the 2.4 kernel is on a different CD.
Well, it gives you the different boot options. 'Rescue' is one, however when I installed I had to use 'alt1' which is the 2.4 kernel. Otherwise it won't read the CD-Rom it'll give me the error ' In interrupt handler - not syncing' I'm not sure how to pass 2 options to it.
Used a different CD-Rom drive and installed the 2.6 kernal. I also selected to completly erase the drive instead of using my existing ext3 parts. That fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.
