Question up2date problem - failure to completely install new kernel rpm

Hi! I just purchased my linux box. It my second week at it. I haven't encountered any problem on features that have proper documentation.

So I wasupdating my RH9 2.4.20-8 to 2.4.20-28.9. I was able to download the rpm. Then while up2date was installing it hanged. I had no choice but to close it since it spent 3 hours just trying to install the 2.4.20-28.9 rpm. It turns out later on that it was installed but not completely. I did the Grub Loader editing, even visited previous version sites that teaches how to manually update. Finally I rebooted.

Lo and behold! It wont boot. It says "Kernel panic" or something like that. At least the previous kernel is working fine.

Does anyone know how to uninstall a kernel? So i can install it again? Or maybe know of a way how I can fix the installation?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, to uninstall it, just take the stuff you put into grub.conf (/boot/grub/) out and delete all the files bearing that exact number from /boot (as root of course)
Don't delete anyhting else, or you'll have a fried system.

As for your up2date problems.. that's a redhat thing :P gave up on RPMs a long time ago.

Happy to help
