sharing a bootable RHEL5-64bits disk between 2 differents laptops

Hi,

I have installed a RH on my laptop. It is a lenovo T400.
I made a clone of the laptop disk through the command:

dd if=/dev/sda of=dev/sdb

I picked the copied disk and installed it on a lenovo T410

I works almost great, as all my installation was working excepting the Xwindows part.

for a while, I thought it could be related to the xorg.conf file. So I replaced my xorg.conf file by a fresh that came from a fresh installation on a T410. This did not change anything.

I guess I missed something within the X11 configuration but I can t figure out what.

would you guys have any idea ?

Hello and wel-come to LQ,

Display configure can be set through

Code:

# system-config-display

run this command and save settings. This will create new xorg.conf file.

also try startx command to get display (run this command from runlevel 3)
