Setting up of Syslog server and forwarding it on RHEL

Hi All,

I have a scenario, where, a RHEL is configured as a syslog server using rsyslog which is receiving logs from various remote hosts on port 6514.

Now I want to send this logs from port no 6514 to port 515 on the same server, is it possible to configure this?

Kindly advice if this can be done? If yes, how?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Praveen

Yes its possible, you could just use iptables to do port redirection for 127.0.0.1

I will be installing one more client, which will be listening on port 515. Now, the actual syslog server is listening on port 6514 and I want this to keep a copy of logs with it and also send a copy to the same server on port 515.

@/dev/random : Do you have links/read for the same?

So Basically what I want to achieve is, the rsyslog server which is already receiving the logs from various clients, should forward the logs to another location (in this case, to the same server but on a different port).
