Hi !

I want to setup a syslog server which stores logs of a another RHEL box to a prespecified file (such as /var/log/PC1.log).

I am able to store remote hosts logs into the default log files of the syslog server (such as /var/log/messages ).

But i want to store them in a file which is specified by me.

What i did to store the logs in the default file in syslog server is just added the following line to the syslog.conf file in the CLIENT (HOST) machine.

*.debug <Tab><Tab> @syslog-server-ip


Then all the logs are stores at var/log/messeges in the syslog server. but i want to store them at /var/log/PC1.log (which was created by me).

You need to install syslog-ng, if you don't already have it. Check out the man pages for info on how to set up exactly what you're looking for.
