Hi,

I originally set up sendmail to work with my machine named abc.net. I later obtained a permanent domain name and static ip address.
How do I now configure sendmail (or change my machine name) to emails sent from my new domain name (me@newdomain.net) rather than from me@abc.net?
I'm running redhat linux 9 with command line interface only.

First off choose a new name for your machine in this example we'll call it linux

Edit /etc/hosts to look like this
127.0.0.1 linux.newdomain.net linux localhost.localdomain localhost

edit /etc/sysconfig/network to look like this
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=linux

edit /etc/mail/local-host-names add your newdomain
newdomain.net

Reboot to let the changes take effect assuming your new domain will resolve via DNS, Sendmail always checks this, you should be able to send mail as me@newdomain.net

By the way abc.net is a registered domain
