I've installed Red Hat AS 5 (as well as Centos 5 Beta and Centos 5) on both a 32 bit Dell 6600 server and a 64 bit Dell 6800 server. I've installed everything.

Shortly after connecting remotely within a few minutes I can not connect to the server remotely. If I have an open ssh session it dies. Other services like httpd and vnc also go away. I cannot get out to the network on the server which made me think I had an network services issue. Restarting the network services doesn't help. I can enable another ethernet connection and get out of the server to the network but I still can't get in remotely.

Has any experienced a similar problem or found a solution if you have?

Try installing the dkms package from Dag's site (dependencies are your responsibility);

And use the Dell dkms network driver for your network device(s);

Hint: Select the RHEL4 for the OS
