Exclamation Redhat Linux 7 Question Plz help to solve my query about File permission


I am New in the Red-hat 7

Well I want to ask question about File permission


-rwxr-xr-x. 19 root root 3340 Dec 23 09:32 dev\

-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 54 Dec 23 10:24 mentos

I know about -rw-r--r-- permissioin

Here is my question
What is 19 ; 1 in above 2 lines about


I know about the root and root and date of modification
I heard it is called block but don't know what a block

Can any one explain me

That is number of hard links for that file/folder.

1) TDLP Howto's and Guides http://www.tldp.org

2) man pages of linux commands, configuration files, posix doc, linux include files.

Just one more piece of information as you seem to be starting fresh :-

> Don't install RHEL. Rather go for the free clone - CentOS. Because getting official packages through their repos and configuring third party repos becomes very easy minus the hassle of having a subscription.

> Install CentOS in a virtual machine on your existing laptop/ Desktop's OS or dual boot.

> CentOS documentation is itself excellent, and the web is filled with an ocean of information, just need to know "how to google."
