Red Hat is not recognizing either the mouse (no pointer) or the keyboard

I installed VMWare Player on an XP SP3 machine. I then installed Red Hat 9 on the VM. The problem is that I cannot get past the first Red Hat screen after a successful installation - command line is not accessible. Red Hat is not recognizing either the mouse (no pointer) or the keyboard. Has anyone run into this before?

The problem is not with the VM, since I was able to use the mouse and keyboard to install Red Hat. Thanks.

Hi Terry,

Well thats a bit strange!

When you switch on the VM and it shows the VM BIOS setting etc are you able to use keyboard at that time? Do the guest machine BIOS show any error related to keyboard or mouse?

You can give a try installing another RHEL9 or RHEL5 machine just to see if that works because it is a test VM and keyboard and mouse work with another fresh install then there is something messy with the old install.

Also check the VM global preferences setting to see if they are showing up correct.

red hat 9!!!!!
RH9 is SO VERY VERY VERY OLD that YOUR mouse and keybroad were NOT even on the drawing broad when support for 9 ended

rh9 is SO OLD that it will NOT install on new hardware

what you are trying to do is like this Microsoft example

trying to install and run windows 95 on a 64 bit laptop computer

rh9 is and HAS been DEAD for a very long time , do not use it !

buy, YES BUY a license for the current red hat software ( REHL6.0 )
RHEL6.0 is NOT FREE

or install the free CentOS 5.6
