Public Key error when installing local rpm package

I downloaded the syslog-ng rpm package from rpm.pbone.net. However when I try to install with 'yum localinstall syslog-ng-2.0.0-1.el4.i386.rpm', I get the following error:

Downloading Packages:
warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID ed00d312

Public key for syslog-ng-2.0.0-1.el4.i386.rpm is not installed

Please advise, thanks !

(Using CentOS 4.4)

well it's after a gpg key that's apparently not installed. personally i'd not bother using yum to doa local install anywya. "rpm -Uvh syslog-ng.etc..." should be fine and will not insist on a key. pretty sure you'll need to uninstall syslogd and ksyslog first before installing that.

1) Will 'rpm -Uvh syslog-ng' automatically resolve any dependency issue? i.e. download the required dependencies etc?

2) Does installing with yum take care of uninstalling syslogd and ksyslog first before it installs syslog-ng?

3) For package x, how would one know which are the packages to be uninstalled first, like in this case, syslogd and ksyslog, before proceeding with installing package x?

Thanks !

1) syslog-ng shouldn't have any deps.

2) no, they are seperate packages that provide the same functionality. as there's no official comparison, unlike a version number, it's not yum's place to judge what to do.

3) rpm will fail saying it conflicts with x or y.
