Oracle (instant client) on RHEL4

Can someone please give me, or point me to, a detailed step-by-step guide on how to install the instant client on RHEL4?

I have the oracle-instantclient-basic-10.2.0.1-1 package installed.
I have php5 compiled with oci8 support.

Do I need these:
"oracle" user?
tnsnames.ora?
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, other variables?
If so, how do I set these up, where do I put them, etc.?

Also, the person I am working with says I need the Oracle Advanced Networking Option and enable encryption and integrity settings. How do I configure these?

Thanks
