Thanks for providing answser for my each and every questions. This time i am facing the issue that i m not able to play mp3 files on my Linux computer. I m using RedHat AS 4 edition. and tried playing the file using the defualt player but its not playing the MP3 files. Help me out as you always do...
you want to play MP3's on an AS server? that's designed for running clustered relational database engines and such like....
Either way, this is just the fact that Redhat don't support MP3 doue to dubious legality of MP3 codecs. you need ito install this yourself, e.g. via an xmms plugin available from xmms.org if you want to play them on xmms etc... again though, RHEL 4 AS is not a good platform for doing this...
Does that mean that i can't play music mp3 files in my computer I really want to play music in my computer and want to watch movies... There is no way? There is no rpm for that?? Please help me!!!
it has already been said that you just need to install a plug-in for xmms from xmms.org. that will make playing mp3s (in xmms) work. something similar would be required if you want to do this in totem, or whatever other audio player you use.
as far as doing this on rhel4as, i do it at work. it's not a big deal at all. it's the very same thing as rhel4as or desktop, except it has a few extra packages. honestly i think the biggest difference between as-es-ws-destop is the support you can get from redhat.
