Modifying Red hat 9 installer

before an unfortunety hard drive failue i was a regular red hat 9 user for about a month. i was wondering if there was any way of modifying the installer (anaconda) so that i could use packages of my own choice (ie. i download newer or diffrent packages and use those isntead of redhats ones) so that i wouldent have to install them later on, or in my case, re-download and install them due to some kind of failure. Sorry if this is a kind of no brainer question but i consider myself new to linux

maybe a good place to start. Although it is unlikely that it will let you use non RH packages.

Nowadays, I use debian style apt ( for RPMs ) to install and upgrade packages. Works well for me.

thanks, i can use this on my fresh install of redhat 9 so i wont have to take alot of time with the installer if i have any problems, so that problem is solved for now,. any other idea's on custom packages?

(i have a copy of debian, but i dont like the package selector its a little to much to go over that huge list to select my files.)
