Kernels: have 72 get 71

I've installed

kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72.i686

but can only see

kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.71.i686 at reboot.

Which isn't quite true, I see

. . . . . . . # uname -r
. . . . . . . 2.4.9-e.
Linux e38smp . . . . .38smp
~ . . . . . . . . . . 3smp
~ . . e71smp . . . . .71smp
~ . . up . . . . . . .3smp . . . . . sorry!

in the RedHat screen during boot-up.

It looks like my System.map is wrong.

/boot

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Nov 22 19:25 System.map -> System.map-2.4.9-e.71smp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 444721 May 3 2002 System.map-2.4.9-e.3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 470397 Feb 11 2004 System.map-2.4.9-e.38smp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 466091 May 3 2002 System.map-2.4.9-e.3smp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 474759 Nov 23 2006 System.map-2.4.9-e.71smp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 474759 Jul 4 03:10 System.map-2.4.9-e.72smp

/usr/src

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14500268 Feb 28 2007 kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.71.i686.rpm
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14501297 Nov 23 15:16 kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72.i686.rpm
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Jan 9 2004 linux-2.4 -> linux-2.4.9-e.3
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 4096 Jan 9 2004 linux-2.4.9-e.3
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Jan 9 2004 redhat

RedHat have been on the case for a week.

Now there's a challenge!

Regards
Martin

returns 2 identical rows

kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72
kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72

/boot/initrd-2.4.9-e.72smp.img already exists.

if this img file already exists that means you already installed kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72
or someone installed it and then uninstalled it without deleting img file and other entries related to kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.72

Thank you Mara, Wajedur. I had installed 7-2 and then RedHat told me to do it again. I've heard nothing from then since Thursday.
