Java Runtime Envorment

I am having trouble installing JavaRE.. I've installed it several times. As root the installation is suposed to be 'sucessful' yet I still get prompted for download eveytime I visit a java page. Installing as a user is denied. The browser does not find Java as a plug-in.
Iam using RH9 and I've tried all versions of Mozilla and Netscape same problem. It's really irritating. What am I doing wrong?

you need to make a symlink in your mozilla plugins directory to the libjavaplugin.so where ever the jre is installed. something like ln -s /usr/local/jre/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/local/moziila/plugins/libjavaplugin.so

I'm sure i missed some directories but you get the idea.

Thanks Glock..
I think that did it.. I'd swear I tried it before but I guess not.. I may have been doing something wrong. JRE shows up in the Plug-Ins now.. Thanks a million..
