I'm running with the RHEL 5.9 64bit OS (I've tried the native kernel and 3.12.rc4).

HOW ????
the old rhel5 is using the 2.6 kernel
did you rebuild the os for a incompatible 3.12 kernel
also RHEL 5 ( 5.10 is current) is old it will not support NEW hardware
and there is NO Ivy Bridge support in any of the 2.6 kernels
it is new kernel version3 code
so if you want to use a 6+ year old operating system on new hardware
you will have VERY limited hardware support
if you need support for that built in " cpu/gpu - chip"
install a NEW operating system
like
OpenSUSE 12.3 or 13.1 soon
Linux Mint 15
Fedora 19 or 20 in a week
