inetd.conf versus xinetd.conf

I am setting up Cyrus, and in the documentation it has to add
two lines to the inetd.conf file.
to my understanding you need to make changes to xinetd.conf instead with redhat 4?

How would i impliment these changes in xinetd.conf?

Edit /etc/inetd.conf and comment out any imap and pop3 lines and add the following:
imap stream tcp nowait cyrus /usr/cyrus/bin/imapd imapd
pop3 stream tcp nowait cyrus /usr/cyrus/bin/pop3d pop3d

the changes are the same, but each line is a whole file in /etc/xinted.d/ , with each option on it's own seperate line.
