Fedora Core is fast!

Hello,

Fedora Core 0.94 is so much faster than previous RedHat releases, if someone here is familiar with the distribution please explain what they did to improve performance. Is it GNOME 2.4? kernel 2.4.22? RedHat's nptl implementation?

Depends on what effects you see. Severn does automatic prelinking of binaries (via a daily cron job). Maybe it's that. Kernel has seen some improvements (see "rpm -q --changelog kernel"), but during beta/test periods, it has debug features enabled which will be disabled in final release and make it faster.
