u cant setup your network through swat!! swat is a configuration tool for samba server.

first make sure your network card works.
type in terminal:
ifup eth0

I'm already using swat and the network is configured.

i used the ifup/ifdown eth0:1
and it activates and deactivates the network card
but my question is how do I make it load at startup?

thanks for the "ifup" command tip though I never used that before!

1- hard way: (i wanna explain cos u will know where s the network device files are stored..) u may check the files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts folder.. and edit ifcfg-eth0 and ...eth1 check if the line "ONBOOT=yes" exist..

2 - easyway to configure network for redhat systems:
netconfig eth0
netconfig eth1

if this does fix it I wonder what removed it because when i first installed rh9 it booted up but after installing swat through the rpm which didn't work for some reason it wouldn't read the headers, so i had to install it from the command line but I 'm actually trying this out right now.

Thumbs up

try vi /etc/rc.d/rc.local
and then adding at the end ifconfig eth0:1 10.0.0.0

where 10.0.0.0 stands for your IP address.

UR Welcome :-)
