Hi All

I am having difficulty enabling quotas on a RH8 installtion, kernel 2.4.26. Can someone see if i am doing anything wrong:-

Edited the /etc/fstab file:
/dev/sda5 /home ext3 defaults,usrquota 1 2

remounted the /home drive:
#mount -o remount /home

Created the aquota.user file:
#touch /home/aquota.user
#chmod 600 /home/aquota.user

Configured Linux to read the quota file:
#quotacheck -vagum
quotacheck: WARNING - Quotafile /home/aquota.user was probably truncated. Can't save quota settings...
quotacheck: Scanning /dev/sda5 [/home] done
quotacheck: Checked 41 directories and 312 files

Then tried to enable the quotas:
#quotaon /home
quotaon: using /home/aquota.user on /dev/sda5 [/home]: No such process
quotaon: Quota format not supported in kernel.

I have a Cobalt RAQ4 (RH6.2) and a RH9(kernel 2.4.20-31.9) install that both have quotas enabled and working, so i am not sure why it does not work on the RH8 install.

I have had a look on some web sites that mention the quota_v2 module, but none of my other installs have this module.

BTW - using RH8 on a rented server( as it came free :-)), no direct access to machine apart from SSH.
