edonkey can't run

overnet linux core controller installed on redhat9.0
overnet menu clicked on root account but overnet screen don't appear.
warning message appear.
'You are running this GUI as user 'root'. You really should not do this! '

'./ed2k_gui' run on command prompt(root account)

why not run the overnet on root account??

Running software as root is generally a bad idea. Since root has permissions on all the files and settings, a hacker or virus (or even just a bug in the software) could mess your system up. Unless you absolutely _have_ to run programs as root, don't.

ps: I have never had a problem running overnet as a non-root user

Edonkey WONT run as root period. Log on as a user. It is for your own protection.
