Different Resolution init level 3 ?

Ok, as someone explained to me the runlevel 3 Is it possible to change the resolution of the terminal ?

Or at least its behaviour ? Currently it seems that the terminal in runlevel 3 runs in 800x600, but when compiling etc. I would love to see a bit more on the screen as it is a 12" IBM laptop

edit /etc/lilo.conf
In it you will see :
.
.
.
vga=xxxxx
.
.
.
change xxxxx to :
normal - 80x25 terminal
788 - 1024x768 @16bit color
there are also other modes, but i dont remember.
Try vga=ask - lilo will ask for video mode every boot.
After saving type : lilo , to reinstall lilo

Mmm... I only have a lilo.conf-anaconda in which I can only see

root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/
initrd /initrd-2.4.20-8.img

or something like this ...

This file has just 6 lines, similiar to the grub.con I have

It sounds like your system isn't configured to use LILO if you only have the ananconda file.

This is what I do under Fedora & Red Hat Enterprise Linux...

look in /lib/kbd/consolefonts to see what you have available. Then start trying them out till you find one you like...

# setfont koi8r-8x8

When you find one you like edit /etc/sysconfig/i18n and add it...

LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
SUPPORTED="en_US.UTF-8:en_US:en"
SYSFONT="koi8r-8x8"
