init level settings

What file do I edit to have my linux box start up in "init 3", I've got RH 9 and I don't want it to start up in X, I want it to start at terminal. Any suggestions?

/etc/inittab

Look for the "default runlevel" section. There will be a bunch of comments explaining each level.
