I am trying to install Redhat5.4 from a bootable usb.
I did the following steps:
Using fdisk I made one partition, set is to be bootable ( a command) set partition type to FAT32 (t b command)
I download the rhel-client-5.4-i386-dvd.iso
I use livecd-iso-to-disk command to setup the disk bootloader;
livecd-iso-to-disk rhel-client-5.4-i386-dvd.iso /dev/sdc1
I boot the pc from usb flash, it booted and ask for language; next step it ask me where is the image file, I choose HDD and sdb. It shows the contenet of usb, so I pointed to the /image/iso.boot
Here the pc crashed and terminate the process.
on version 5.4, after pointing the dvd.iso file to unetbootin it ask me the language, then it ask me where is the image file, I choose HDD and sdb. It shows the contenet of usb, so I pointed to the /image/iso.boot
Here the pc crashed and terminate the process. The exact message is: blue windows and the message is process terminated, and then it says ready to reboot.
In version 6.3, there are two .iso files, boot.iso, and dvd.iso
after pointing the dvd.iso file to unetbootin, the same thing happening as version 5.4
but if I point the boot.iso file to unetbootin, I can go further, it stock when I have to choose media which the redhat supposed to be install. I don't know if I can attached a picture to show where it stuck?
So it sounds like you haven't actually got round to booting the PC from USB yet... Yeah, you can attach a screenshot - there should be a paperclip icon on above the box into which you type your reply (don't use the "Quick reply" form, use the proper editor).
