acroread


Hello All,

I a trying to install acroread on my redhat9 machine but I get the following errors, has anyone had success with this?

warning: acroread-5.0.9-1.dag.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6b8d79e6
error: cannot write to %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

the "warning" means that src.rpm has not been signed with a gpg signature.
the "error" indicates to me that you are installing the src rpm as a user who does not have write-access to /usr/src/redhat. you could either proceed by changing the permissions of the build directory or by installing the src rpm as root.

my personal preference is to use the former method since i build rpms in /usr/src/redhat anyway. an alternative to this would be using a different build root (as specified in the ~/.rpmmacros file). rpm builds should not be done with root priviliges.


if you are not trying to build the rpm, and you just want to install acroread and then run it, you should obtain a binary rpm rather than a source rpm (looks something more like acroread.version.i386.rpm instead of acroread.version.src.rpm).
