(/usr/x11R7/bin/Xwin: success) but not working

I had 411 downloaded 412 it boots up on the CD gets to this
(/usr/x11R7/bin/Xwin: success) and that's it just stays there. I have tried all the pfix but no good, and now I can't get back to 411. Any information on this will be appreciated.

Make sure you use "puppy pfix=ram" if you have any other puppy sfs files on your hard drive or puppy will try to use them when you boot up a different pup version or puplet.

Have you tried to use "xvesa" instead of xorg?

Thanks for the reply, when I try pfix=ram I get could not find kernel and I can't get as far as the xvesa . What I am getting now is kernel panic- not syncing attempted to kill. If I could find the sfs files I would delete them but I don't know where they are in Vista, I could find them in XP but as I say not in Vista. In really don't know what my next move should be.

I have a similiar problem with 4.1.2 on one machine. It does not like the sata controller nor will wireless work. Older or newer versions work fine.

Your best bet is to stick with 4.1.1 or try one of the newer puplets like Fatdog 111, nonamepup, or Nop 4.1.3. These boot up fine on my problem machine although wireless will not work with the new Nop.

Personally, I'm finding Fatdog an excellent piece of work with a very new kernel.

Pfix=ram can give trouble too if you do not have much for ram.
