Puppy cannot configure Belkin PCMCIA F5D5020 card

I have an old clunker Gateway laptop which Puppy has resurrected from the dead. However, I cannot get online, and unless I do, this will just be a paperweight.

I have tried everything to install this Belkin card (which works fine in Windows), over and over. My experience is similar to this guy's:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-ideas-762223/

I tried the pcnet_cs driver. The axnet_nc Nothing.

Ndiswrapper does not work with any of the Windows drivers (DOS, 95, NT), no matter which *.INF file I select.

I also tried editing the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file according to this http://tuxmobil.org/pcmcia_ci10403.html and then tried

modprobe pcnet_cs

Still no go. The lights on the Belkin blink, but there's no connection and neither eth0 nor wlan0 exist. Pinging, I get "network not found."

A seemingly hopeless situation.

I'm in love with Puppy, but it seems that Puppy just hates this Belkin card.

Any help greatly appreciated.

maybe this will help:
Quote:
I found that all I had to do was to add four lines to the file /etc/pcmcia/config.opts, namely an empty line followed by

card "Belkin-5020"
version "Belkin", "F5D5020-PCMCIA-Network-Card"
bind "pcnet_cs"

(The second and third lines should be indented by two spaces each.
