What command should i use to know about network services?

What command should i use if i want to know about net traffic, mail traffic, databases traffic, port status (open/close)?

Looks like the point is i want to know all network traffics on linux.

Can somebody tell me how to do this, or what command(s) should i use?

Thank you..

The base utility to do this is tcpdump. Wireshark is a GUI tool that adds the ability to disassemble packets based on their type. If you only want to collect statistical data, iptables can be configured to log traffic selectively.

There is also "netstat", which can show currently active connections, which ips/port/program/pid is using it, and routing tables and such.
