Question Tcl Newbie: ASED can't find 'frink'

Have just installed Tcl with all bells and whistles.
Can run Tutorial 1 (Cone) but always get this:
On loading ASED IDE I always get request to load/install frink then an error when it says already installed. (ASED prompts to load in its own directory) frink is in ~/Desktop and in ~/Desktop/ASED3.0 directories. Permissions are set to 666 on both copies.
When I run the Cone.tcl it works OK but I see an error about not finding frink so no syntax check performed.
Should it be in $PATH even tho' ASED says where to put it?
Thanks guys, have a great Christmas :-)
